Terms of service at Arven
When you submit jewelry, silverware, or other items for repair, restoration, engraving, appraisal, or other services at Arven, we want you to be confident in how your item is handled. Here you will find our terms and conditions for submission and the performance of services.
Submission of items
Upon submission, the customer receives a receipt as documentation that the item has been delivered to Arven. We recommend that the receipt be kept until the item is collected.
All submitted items are handled professionally and with care.
Older and used items may have wear, weaknesses, previous repairs, or other conditions that are not necessarily visible upon submission.
Such conditions may only be revealed when work begins. This may apply to stones, pearls, metal, enamel, and treated stones. Such conditions may entail a risk of damage even when the work is performed professionally. We will notify you if we discover a particular risk that is significant to how the work should be carried out.
Arven is not liable for damage caused by the item's existing condition, hidden weaknesses, normal wear and tear, or circumstances not resulting from fault or negligence on the part of Arven.
Insurance
The customer is responsible for verifying the insurance coverage applicable to the item while it is submitted for service.
The customer is advised to check the insurance coverage before submission.
This does not limit Arven's liability if loss or damage is due to circumstances for which Arven is responsible under applicable law.
Assessment and price
Before work is carried out, Arven can provide a price estimate or agree on a price with the customer.
If conditions are uncovered during the work that make it necessary to change or expand the assignment, we will contact the customer for clarification before the work in question is performed.
For older, worn, or previously repaired items, it can be difficult to determine the full scope of the work before the item is examined more closely.
Assessment and price
The work is performed professionally and in accordance with what has been agreed upon with the customer.
When repairing and refurbishing older or used items, minor changes may occur that are necessary to carry out the work in a professional manner. We take the item's original appearance and characteristics into account as far as is practically possible.
Complaint regarding work performed
If the customer believes there is an error or defect in the work performed by Arven, we ask that the customer contact us within a reasonable time after the issue was or should have been discovered, preferably within 2 months.
Collection of completed service and uncollected items
The customer will be notified when the item is finished and ready for collection. The item must be collected as soon as possible and no later than 6 months after the customer has been notified that the work is completed.
If the item has not been collected by the deadline, Arven will send the customer a final notice for collection. At the same time, the customer will be informed that the item may be sold or otherwise disposed of if it is still not collected by the deadline stated in the notice.
Unclaimed items may be sold by Arven once the conditions under the Act on the right of craftsmen etc. to sell items that are not collected, in particular §§ 2 and 3 and other applicable legislation have been met.
Arven may cover outstanding remuneration and costs in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Items that obviously have no sales value may be disposed of in accordance with the rules applicable to such uncollected items.
Payment
The agreed price for service and any approved additional costs shall be paid no later than upon delivery of the item, unless otherwise agreed.
Customer responsibility
When submitting items, we ask the customer to disclose any information that may be relevant to the work, such as previous repairs, known damage, loose stones, or other weaknesses in the object.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the contact information provided upon submission is correct, so that Arven can get in touch if questions arise during the process or when the item is ready for collection.
Statutory rights
These terms are in addition to the customer's rights under applicable Norwegian legislation and do not limit the rights the customer has under mandatory consumer legislation.
